Dear Debra and Jeff,
This is just a note to tell you that your roll down storm shutters really worked for us. We live on Hatteras Island, North Carolina about 200 yards from the Atlantic Ocean. Several weeks ago we
rolled down the shutters for the night because very high winds and heavy rain were predicted. It rained heavily with high winds of about 70 - 80 MPH.
Early in the morning, the house shook violently and we heard several loud crashes. It was all over in about 10 seconds. When we went outside once the rain subsided, we saw a short, narrow path of
destruction. Wooden shingles were torn off the roofs of cabins behind us, our heavy wooden chaise lounge was flung across our deck hitting a roll down shutter and smashing the railing, a heavy
wooden table that was screwed down was torn up, and there was other damage. On the property in front of us a 30' camping trailer was blown apart. This had to be a small twister.
We then looked at our shutters. They were damaged on two of the sliding glass doors. One was hit by the chaise lounge - big dents to that shutter, but no damage to the glass. The other shutter had
a piece of wooden shingle driven between two slats - big hole in the shutter which was ripped open - again, no damage to the glass.
You've kindly offered to send us replacement slats to repair the shutters. Thank you, they certainly saved our glass doors and prevented our home from being flooded by the heavy rain. Without the
roll downs, we are sure that both glass doors would have been smashed.
Thank you again,Phyllis and Alex Samofal
